Introduction

Split Speak ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how our iOS application handles your data. The short version: we collect absolutely nothing.

Data Collection

Split Speak does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The app operates entirely on your device using Apple's native frameworks:

• Speech Framework: Used for on-device speech recognition. Audio is processed locally and never leaves your device.
• Translation Framework: Used for on-device translation. All translation happens locally.
• AVFoundation: Used for text-to-speech playback of translations.
• Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models): When available, used for enhanced translation quality. Processing occurs on-device.

No Data Collection

We want to be explicit about what we do not do:

• We do not record or store your conversations
• We do not transmit any data to external servers
• We do not use analytics or tracking of any kind
• We do not use cookies or similar technologies
• We do not require user accounts or registration
• We do not collect device identifiers

Local Storage

Split Speak stores only your preferences (such as language selections and display settings) and conversation history (up to 100 messages) locally on your device using UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time from the app's Settings using the "Reset Everything" option.

Microphone Permission

Split Speak requires microphone access for speech recognition. The microphone is only active when you are actively using the translation feature. Audio is processed entirely on-device by Apple's Speech framework and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted.

Third-Party Services

Split Speak uses only Apple's built-in frameworks for all functionality. We do not integrate any third-party SDKs, analytics services, or advertising networks. For information about how Apple handles data in its frameworks, please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Children's Privacy

Split Speak is suitable for all ages (rated 4+). Since we do not collect any data whatsoever, there are no special considerations for children's privacy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
